I really thought at this point, now 5 weeks into heavy training, that I would have shed off pounds. Over 100 miles run, 15,500 calories burned - should have lost at least 4 pounds. Instead, I have barely budged. Worse, the body fat percentage has not changed, even though I am visibly gaining muscle. Not sure what is happening, but I only have 20 weeks left to meet my goals. Here are some tips I have found on jump starting my metabolism:
Exercise more [1,2,3,4] (check!)
Do weight training exercise on a regular basis [2,3,4] (check!)
Stop eating two to three hours before bedtime [1,4]
Eat breakfast and small, frequent meals throughout the day [3,4]
Increase protein and fiber consumption at every meal or snack for an eight-week period. [1,3]
Drink three cups of green tea and three cups of water daily. [1,4]
Work out for 30 minutes before breakfast [2]
Eat fewer high-fat foods and less total calories [4]
Supplement with 200 mcg of chromium daily [1]
Don't fall prey to fad or crash diets [3]
